Why should I join?

By joining the union, you help make it stronger. As a member of the union, you will be involved in various STA activities; you have the right to attend representative council meetings and can vote for contracts and union leadership. You become part of the reason our district is noted for its excellence and diversity.

How are my dues paid?

STA dues are automatically deducted for 10 pay periods starting in October. Your dues are used to support the activities of our local union as well as New York State United Teachers, American Federation of Teachers, and the National Education

The Sayville Teachers Association is the voice for educators, nurses, and school-related professionals in the Sayville School District. We are passionate advocates for our students as well as the entire Sayville learning community.

Our membership is comprised of caring professionals that go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. Our dedication to the students of Sayville helps to motivate our role in shaping their education.

The Paraprofessional and School-Related Personnel (PSRP) division of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, represents more than 350,000 school support staff in K-12 districts, colleges and universities. Our jobs include office employees, custodians, maintenance workers, bus drivers, instructional paraprofessionals, food service workers, school nurses and health aides, technicians, groundskeepers, secretaries, bookkeepers, mechanics, special education assistants and hundreds of other job titles.
